Dear Veterans and Fellow Americans:

Below is an article written by Gretel C. Kovach and photographs by her story telling partner, Nelvin C. Cepada. In telling the story of our Combat Marines and their travails in the War on Terror in Afghanistan.

Gretel and Nelvin have been embedded with our Marines in Afghanistan going above the call for excellence in bringing our Marine’s story home for all to read. These stories remind American how blessed we are to have these brave men and women who love their country so much, they put their lives on the line for their fellow Americans.

I note, at the bottom of this email is a quote from Major General Michael Lehnert USMC Retired, ‘A country worth defending is a country worth preserving’ , you can best believe our U.S. Marines proudly represent this quote from a Marines, Marine.

In this edition of the San Diego Union Tribune, Sunday December 18, 2011, Gretel’s article is titled, “A single step, then everything changed”. Each and every article written by Gretel is like a chapter in an ongoing story about American Defenders of Freedom, Combat Marines deployed to Afghanistan.

Today’s story is the story about one of thousands of American Warriors who are committed to protecting and defending this, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, The United States of America. And as any Marine would say, “ooRAH Brother.”

A single step, then everything changed SignOnSanDiego.com

Orem, Utah (PRWEB) December 14, 2011

Bands for Freedom Foundation today announces Robert E Zimmerman (Bobby Z) as newest member of the board.

“With the launch of the Bands for Freedom Veterans Wellness Program upcoming, we felt the need to bring on someone with experience producing and promoting events for our military personnel. Bobby Z. has that experience and we are honored to have him as part of the Bands for Freedom team.” said Steve Cloward director of sales and marketing.

Bobby Z. produced “The Chamber Brothers Live from the Factory” which was the first ever live on Air production. Following this event The Chamber Brothers asked Bobby to become their manager. In the course of managing The Chamber Brothers, Bobby negotiated their second album deal with CBS records on the CBS affiliate.

Bobby later met the band called “Painter” and just ten days from meeting Painter, Bobby signed Painter to Elektra Records. The first Painter single “West Coast Women” was released a few months later and it immediately became hit bound on the billboard top 100.

During the decades of the 60′s, 70′s and 801′s Bobby was involved with Event productions with such bands as Willie Nelson, Heart, Sugarloaf, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, and the Doobie Brothers, to name a few.

In 1990 when Operation Desert Shield came about Bobby formed Operation San Diego Cares. “I did this out of concern for our Troops coming home to the response they experienced following the Vietnam War. That war killed my brother. He and all the men and women who served our country deserved nothing but adoration from the American people, yet they came home scorned. Forming Operation San Diego cares turned out to be the salve this nation needed to be reminded American troops are our defenders of Freedom. To this day I have held steadfast in my belief that in America, we thank our troops past and present.”

“Becoming involved with a great organization like Bands for Freedom is a natural for me. I want to continue to raise the awareness of the American public of the service and sacrifice our men and women in uniform past and present make. Bands for Freedom have done a great job with this using their Patriotic wristbands. Now with the upcoming Veterans Wellness Program we are forming we can make a big difference for our service members with the many unseen wounds from war.” said Bobby Z.

By teaming together medical professionals with services such as; Acupuncture therapy, Chiropractic therapy, and Nexalin technology therapy for Anxiety, Depression, and Insomnia Bands for Freedom Veterans Wellness Programhas embarked upon a mission to be a key player in making sure “We The People” welcome our combat Veterans home from all wars, past and present.

Capitalism is America, take it away, the Great Country we know goes with it

Individual Prosperity was and is the Capitalistic Glue that created this
Great Land of Opportunity
By Bob Zimmerman, Veteran Advocate
*
When our Founding Fathers based Americas Laws on Judeo Christian Values, freedom, as we know it was born. Free will created what became unabridged opportunity for American Achievement. Free will was and is the cornerstone of everything great about America, and Free Will in 237 years built the wonder of the world, The United States of America.
*
There is no comparison between Capitalism and Socialism.
*
Socialism offers a few positions to being a part of the Intellectually Elite, in short providing the mechanism that created Royalty, or absolute rule. History tells us, there were Rulers who were obsessed with greed, and there were those who were benevolent and kind but the people were still subjects. Socialism thrived throughout the world for centuries. It wasn’t until the United States was created that the worlds people had a “Land of Opportunity” to call home.
*
Freedom gave birth to Capitalism, and almost like a Magician waving a Magic Wand the creativity of man developed and without fanfare this Democratic Republic flourished.
*
All of the American Monikers, Land of the Free, Home of the Brave, and Land of Opportunity, gave America the recognition as the Leader of the Free World. The gates of Immigration opened to welcome the flood of humanity yearning to be free in this vast land of opportunity from Sea to Shining Sea.
*
In any society Government is needed, but Government is not a Cog in the Wheel of Economics, We The People are the engine that creates opportunity. Governments sole duty is to maintain the Infrastructure which gives us the ability to move about freely, have modern conveniences in our homes such as Electricity, Running Water, interconnecting Roadways and Highways, Bridges, etc. Thus, instead of Royal Palaces for the Elite, we have Civic Centers, these are places We The People provide for those who chose to be Public Servants. These are the folks we elect to keep the wheels of progress in motion.
*
With all of the above said, We The People must be vigilant in making sure that those who may come with unscrupulous abilities are not permitted to prosper at the expense of the governed.
*
Today in America we are experiencing what can happen within in the Halls of Governance if We The People don’t maintain proper vigilance. If one chooses to be a Pubic Servant, we are obligated to reward them with a comfortable income and retirement. Common Sense Benefits befitting their personal commitment to serve is the proper and descent thing to do. What isn’t proper and descent is when public servants are elevated to a station of “Special Interest” and awarded compensation benefits that are far and away out of the realm of, “Proper and Descent” Reward.
*
There are those in our society called “The Achievers”, the folks who have achieved great wealth. These are the folks that have earned their way to Economic Success, and are also the Employers of We The People.
*
The beauty of being an American is the fact that anyone who chooses to work hard, and further their education, may achieve the financial ability to choose a lifestyle of their choice in climbing the ladder of opportunity.
*
Thusly, in this Democratic Republic of America we have all levels of social economic status i.e. from Billionaires on down the ladder to those are comfortable with being considered the American Working Class, or American Worker Bees. These are the folks that We The People need to consider when it comes to providing them with the ability to own a home, a car, essentially a comfortable way of life befitting their economic zone.
*
We The People, who are achievers, particularly those who have become property barons, must take into consideration the fact our Worker Bees can’t afford the same amenities that wealth can bring. Therefore, Common Sense dictates in order for this Capitalistic Society to thrive on an equal playing field, We The People need to consider how to make all things we enjoy available to all Americans, the keywords are, making the abundance of recreational assets affordable for all levels of American Society.
*
To achieve such a goal, making things affordable for all should be a key element in planning, both in the Public and Private Sectors.
What ever we do in our America we all must
concentrate on the maintenance of being a
nation of Free People, governed by We The People!

God Bless America!
